
On 26 April 2023 (12:00-13:30 CEST), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) hosted a webinar to introduce stakeholders to the basics of national implementation plans (NIPs) under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).
This was the first webinar in the series of training activities to be held by GGKP within the framework of Component 4 of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Global NIP Update Project. As a part of knowledge-sharing activities, the webinar provided parties with the opportunity to explore the importance of NIPs, their role on national levels, the use of POPs data, and the structure of NIP and its chapters.
Webinar objectives
- Foster participants' understanding of the scope of the obligations to update and review their NIPs under Article 7 of the Convention considering new POPs
- Increase participants' awareness of the role of NIPs at the national level
- Increase participants' understanding of the structure of NIPs and the scope/types of information to be reflected in its chapters
Target audience
- Stockholm Convention Official Contact Points and National Focal Points, particularly from project countries
- National officials and experts involved in the process of reviewing and updating the NIPs
- Members of NIP National Coordinating Mechanism/Committees and Project Coordination Units/Thematic Task Groups
