On 5 June 2024 (14:00-15:00 CEST), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) within the framework of Component 4 (Knowledge management and information sharing) of the GEF ID 10785 project (Global NIP Update Project) hosted an online round table event to share challenges, lessons learned, and good practices during development, review, and update of National Implementation Plans with executing agencies and international experts on the panel.
This capacity-building round table aimed to convene the six regional executing agencies of the project, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. Executing agencies play a vital role in implementing Component 3 of the project, which focuses on assisting parties of the Stockholm Convention in developing and updating their National Implementation Plans (NIPs) on the national level. The session served as a platform for agencies, and experts to share insights, challenges, and innovative approaches gleaned from their experiences. The discussion highlighted using the integrated electronic toolkit developed under GEF ID9884 to improve the NIP update process.
Objectives:
- Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate the sharing of lessons learned, challenges encountered, and new knowledge acquired by regional executing agencies throughout the project implementation process. Introduce the benefits of the Integrated Electronic Toolkit.
- Collaborative Problem-Solving: Foster collaboration among agencies to address common challenges and identify best practices for effective NIP development and implementation.
- Alignment with Current and Future Initiatives: Discuss upcoming events organized by regional agencies and GGKP to advance the goals of the Stockholm Convention.
