Using Green and Digital Technologies to Reduce Food Waste at the Consumer Level

This case study is published under a project led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP): "Build Back Better: Using Green and Digital Technologies to Reduce Food Waste at Consumer Level". It aims to support countries in harnessing green and digital technologies to reduce food waste at consumer level, thereby contributing to attaining the SDGs and climate goals.

The project brings together different knowledge groups of UNEP for an integrated approach. It is combined with case studies of five cities in five regions. Bogota is one of them, as are: Bangkok, Kampala, Belgrade and Doha. The project works with local authorities to develop urban food waste baselines, accompanied by a survey to understand causes and drivers of household food waste, including COVID-specific impacts.
