Africa’s textile industry has been experiencing increased growth in recent years, but it has come at an environmental cost due to its huge energy and water demand and use of highly polluting chemicals. Taking a more circular approach, however, provides a paradigm shift that goes beyond the current “take, make and dispose” model and focuses on a more cost-effective and sustainable production process. This was one of the main takeaways of the In Africa for Africa: Weaving solutions for textile circularity challenges workshop organized at the World Resources Forum 2021 on 12 October 2021 by the Green Industry Platform, together with the Global Opportunities for Sustainable Development Goals (GO4SDGs) initiative and United Nations Environment Programme’s EU-funded InTex project.

Translating sustainable living into desirable, easy, everyday actions that resonate with people is challenging. The Anatomy of Action builds on how people make choices, recasting evidence-based messaging and engaging strategically with what shapes behaviour and aspirations in different parts of the world.

Funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the Aral Sea GRIP project will support the green rehabilitation of the Karakalpakstan Region by establishing viable measures to allow com-munities of the most disaster afflicted districts to pursue sustainable livelihoods through climate resilient agri-business models.

Over the last 12 days, The Anatomy of Action has outlined the tangible everyday individual actions that contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 12, ensuring responsible consumption and production.

The Anatomy of Action (AoA) is an evidence-based framework created by UNEP and the Unschool of Disruptive Design to guide every individual toward sustainable everyday action, thereby helping them in kickstart of better and lighter life.

Nine Caribbean nations have joined forces in the fight for a toxic-free future for the region, with the launch of the US $11-million Caribbean ISLANDS project today. Tashkent – On July 2, 2021 the Korean Development Agency (KOICA) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) signed an agreement for implementation of the “Green Rehabilitation Investment Project for Karakalpakstan Republic to address impacts of the Aral Sea Crisis”. This project has a budget of $5.6 million and will be implemented from July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2024.
