The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) works closely with governments and stakeholders to help countries around the world meet their economic, social and environmental goals. DESA’s work programme can be categorized into three areas: norm-setting, analysis, and capacity-building.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development is an intergovernmental economic organisation with 35 member countries, founded in 1961 to stimulate economic progress and world trade. The mission of OECD is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social wellbeing of people around the world. The OECD provides a forum in which governments can work together to share experience and seek solutions to common problems. This means working with governments to understand what drives economic, social and environmental change.

The Nordic Development Fund (NDF) is the joint development finance institution of the five Nordic countries, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The objective of NDF's operations is to facilitate climate change investments in low-income countries, in line with the Nordic countries’ priorities in the areas of climate change and development. NDF finances its work in cooperation with bilateral and multilateral development institutions.

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) was founded on the belief that economic growth and environmental sustainability are not merely compatible objectives; their integration is essential for the future of humankind. GGGI works with partners in the public and private sector in developing countries around the world to put green growth at the heart of economic planning.
