The fourth and final session of the Road to Stockholm+50 #GGKPwebinar series will invite sustainability leaders to explore big questions in the immediate run up to the international meeting in June 2022. 

Discussion questions:

What have we learned from the last fifty years of global environmental governance? In the 21st century, what do we need to do to address the #ClimateCrisis, #BeatPollution and act #ForNature?

How have the national and regional consultations and Informal Working Groups shaped your hopes and expectations for Stockholm+50? What would a successful meeting look like?

How can we leverage the momentum of Stockholm+50 for collective, transformative action to protect our #OnlyOneEarth?

How can we empower all stakeholders to become #GenerationRestoration, implement the UN Decade of Action and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals?

The Road to Stockholm+50 #GGKPwebinar series runs parallel to national and regional consultation processes, and aligns with the Informal Working Group discussions that will inform and shape the Leadership Dialogues at the meeting.

The first three sessions focused on key messages emerging from the Stockholm+50 Leadership Dialogues, including the human right to a clean environment and the rights of Indigenous Peoples (22 February 2022), green and inclusive economic recovery from COVID-19 (29 March 2022), and how to turn commitments into action in a new digital, financial and policy landscape with the full and equal participation of women, youth and underrepresented and communities (26 April 2022).

On 17 May 2022, the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and the Foundation for Climate Friendly Procurement and Business (SKAO) will host the online webinar Getting Started – The CO2 Performance Ladder for low-carbon procurement.

Since 2021, IISD and SKAO have been collaborating on a project to scale up the use of the CO2 Performance Ladder in Europe. During the event, IISD and SKAO will introduce this carbon-management system and its use in public procurement. Next, procurement authorities and companies from the Netherlands and Belgium will explain the practicalities of using the CO2 Performance Ladder in public procurement processes and will provide tips for getting started.

On 17 May 2022 (14:00-14:45 CEST), Climatelinks will host its third USAID Climate Strategy Launch Webinar to raise awareness about key aspects of the new USAID climate strategy, and begin to answer the question for practitioners, “How does this strategy affect my day-to-day work?”

On 17 May 2022 (11:00 CEST), the Natural Climate Solutions Alliance (NCSA) will host a webinar to launch its Lighthouses, which highlight initiatives that show how natural climate solutions can contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and bring benefits to local communities and indigenous peoples. 

This morning launch will feature representatives from the following Lighthouses:

• Sumatra Merang Peatland Project (Indonesia), presented by Jeffrey Chatelier.
• Katingan Mentaya Project (Indonesia), presented by Dharsano Hartano.
• Luangwa Community Forests Project (Zambia).

On 12 May 13:00-14:00 CET, join this online panel discussion on the latest ESG regulatory innovations in Switzerland and the EU. Representatives of the Swiss government, academia, banking sector, and EU advisory bodies will discuss the directions in which sustainable finance is going.

On 10 May 2022 (15:00-16:00 CEST), the OECD will host the webinar Management of Pharmaceutical Household Waste: Limiting Environmental Impacts of Unused or Expired Medicine.

During the event, the OECD will launch its new report, which provides an overview of available data on pharmaceutical consumption and disposal practices across OECD countries, reviews existing collection schemes and provides recommendations to avoid leakage into the environment.

The webinar will include a presentation of the key findings and discussion with experts.

On 9 May 2022 (15:00-16:00 EDT/21:00-22:00 CET), the World Resources Institute (WRI) is hosting Introduction to 24/7 Carbon-free Energy and Hourly Matching: What, Why and How.

This webinar – WRI's first in a series of webinars on 24/7 carbon-free energy – will provide an introduction to the idea of hourly matching and 24/7 carbon-free energy procurement. 

During the webinar, experts will provide an overview of the current 24/7 carbon-free energy landscape. This will include presentations by representatives from the Council on Environmental Quality, Peninsula Clean Energy and Princeton University's ZERO lab, who will highlight 24/7 commitments and approaches, as well as illuminate pathways for others to explore 24/7 carbon-free energy.

On 9 May 2022 (14:30-15:45 CEST), the One Planet Network, with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and others, will host Enabling Sustainable Lifestyles in a Climate Emergency.

During the event, UNEP will launch a new policy brief, which offers insights on what forces shape lifestyles as well as what structural solutions - such as choice editing - can help governments and businesses kickstart the transition to sustainable lifestyles.
