The 2nd Batumi Talk Show, Greening the economy and cleaning the air, provided an opportunity for countries to showcase success stories and share lessons learned around the transition to greener economies, improved air quality, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This week in Geneva, countries report on the progress achieved in the implementation of their commitments to the Batumi Initiative on Green Economy (BIG-E) since it was launched in 2016. BIG-E serves to operationalize the Pan-European Strategic Framework for Greening the Economy – a policy tool supports countries in their efforts to transition to the green economy and, at the same time, contributes to the implementation of SDGs. In total, over 30 countries and organisations have submitted 124 commitments to the BIG-E. The BIG-E and BACA initiatives remain open for stakeholders to join.

GGGI will hold a workshop at the 3rd UN PAGE Ministerial Conference (Conference Hall 2 at 13:15 - 14:00) to exchange ideas on how to effectively leverage social inclusion in green growth planning, policy and investments. The event will also serve to premiere GGGI’s latest film, Green Growth for Gender Equality: Promoting Poverty Reduction and Social Inclusion.
