This week in Geneva, countries report on the progress achieved in the implementation of their commitments to the Batumi Initiative on Green Economy (BIG-E) since it was launched in 2016. BIG-E serves to operationalize the Pan-European Strategic Framework for Greening the Economy – a policy tool supports countries in their efforts to transition to the green economy and, at the same time, contributes to the implementation of SDGs. In total, over 30 countries and organisations have submitted 124 commitments to the BIG-E. The BIG-E and BACA initiatives remain open for stakeholders to join.

The SDG Climate Action Nexus tool (SCAN-tool) provides high-level guidance on how climate actions can impact achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), covering actions across seven mitigation sectors: electricity and heat, transport, buildings, industry, waste, agriculture, and forestry.

The call to action was issued during Natural Capital Week, where the Business and Biodiversity Offsets Programme (BBOP) launched a new set of roadmaps and guidance for business and government to craft economic development strategies that result in an overall gain of biodiversity, rather than loss.
