The Innovation for Sustainable Development Network (inno4sd.net) will hold its Fourth Annual Symposium in Brussels on 7-9 November 2018. The event is jointly organised by inno4sd.net and Future Earth, with the support of the Sustainable Solutions Network.

The 2nd Global Forum on Green Economy Learning on the theme of "Green Economy: New Challenges, New Skills" focused on the issue of learning and skills development for current and future decision-makers, technical staff in Ministries, and others involved in policy design and implementation. The overall goal was to scale-up knowledge and skills development for devising green economy solutions that are inclusive and address concerns related to economic competitiveness and employment.

On 5 September 2018, UN Environment and the University of Geneva, through the Geneva Environment Network, hosted an insightful lecture by visiting Harvard Professor Spiro Pollalis. The lecture explored the multiple dimensions of innovation in connection to sustainable infrastructure by highlighting five infrastructure innovations as key enablers for delivering the global sustainability goals.

At the 2018 World Water Week, held in Stockholm, Sweden, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) participated in a workshop that engaged stakeholders from the Swedish government and development organizations to discuss opportunities for collaboration that will enhance the impact of green growth and climate action projects in developing countries.

On 23-24 July 2018, UN Environment and the Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) held a dialogue on "Exploring Blockchain Technology and Environmental Sustainability" to explore existing and potential applications of blockchain technology to address issues of environmental sustainability. Discussions focused on the opportunities – and implications – of applying blockchain technology to a variety of environmental issues, what we can learn from existing best practices, identifying new opportunities, and flagging possible concerns.

On 22 March 2018, the Metrics & Data sub-group of the GGKP Expert Working Group on Natural Capital held a workshop at the 2018 Natural Capital Symposium, which took place from 19-22 March 2018 at Stanford University.

On 18-19 June 2018, the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP), and the German Corporation for International Cooperation / Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) held the conference entitled, "Green Transformation and Competitive Advantage: Evidence From Developing Countries" in Bonn, Germany.
