The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH or GIZ in short (English: German Corporation for International Cooperation) is a German development agency headquartered in Bonn and Eschborn. GIZ has over 50 years of experience in a wide variety of areas, including economic development and employment, energy and the environment, and peace and security.

Fiscal measures in the form of taxes, charges, subsidies, incentives and budget allocations can help generate revenue for environmental and social purposes, shift behaviour towards low-carbon activities and stimulate green investment by pricing environmental externalities. The key to successful implementation and political acceptance of fiscal instruments hinges on effective complementary measures, in particular, addressing distributional impacts.

Jointly organised by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), this workshop seeks to enhance South-South Cooperation on green development trajectories and share knowledge and country experiences related to Green Economy/Green Growth pathways. 

The 3rd OECD Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Urban Green Growth in Dynamic Asia will be held in Bandung, Indonesia, on 6-7 May 2015 on the topic of "Smart City and Green Growth".

On 28 April, the World Trade Organization (WTO) will be hosting the event "20 years of building pathways to sustainable development" to mark the organization's 20th anniversary. The event will take place in the WTO Headquarters (Room W).

The International Center for Climate Governance (ICCG) was founded in 2009 as a joint initiative of Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and Fondazione Giorgio Cini.  ICCG is now an internationally renowned center whose research activities focus on the design of climate policy and governance.

On 13 -14 May 2015, the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF), UNEP and the Government of Kenya will co-host an African Regional 3GF Conference in Nairobi. By providing a global-regional platform, 3GF will contribute to building consensus on how to turn challenges on sustainable development and climate change into opportunities for green growth and improved livelihoods for all.

The World Green Economy Summit is an initiative by the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority and is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President Prime Minister of UAE and The Ruler of Dubai and the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, in cooperation with the Dubai Green Economy Partnership and WETEX.

This year’s conference to be held in Paris, France from 1-3 July 2015, will focus on Tax and the Environment, an issue of growing importance and one which we anticipate will be both relevant and timely in the lead up to the COP21 meeting in November 2015.

Environmental policy objectives, including reduction of the expected costs of climate change, curbing health damage from pollution, and improving the quality of the environment, rank high on policy agendas.  Taxes are one among several policy instruments to help attain these objectives.
