Building Pathways to Greener Growth
Practitioners' Workshop
June 3-4, 2013
The Green Growth Knowlede Platform's first regional practitioner's workshop "Building Pathways to Greener Growth" was organized by the World Bank, in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and with funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The workshop was hosted by the Government of Indonesia. The workshop also benefited from collaboration with other GGKP partners.
This workshop provided technical experts from developing country governments in Asia with the opportunity to learn about various green growth policy tools and share experiences on green growth planning and implementation. Participants gathered for two days of seminars, knowledge exchange and networking. Each session allowed for knowledge and experience sharing among participants and with experts. In particular:
- Day 1 (June 3) focused on the political and institutional dimensions of developing and implementing green growth strategies, and included participant-driven “Open Space” sessions.
- Day 2 (June 4) focused on three-hour seminars where participants learnt about a variety of green growth tools and country experiences to date. Each session related to at least one major green growth theme: planning, finance, and implementation.
Managing Deep Uncertainty
June 5, 2013
The World Bank, in partnership with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre, presented a technical deep dive on how to make good decisions despite deep uncertainty about the future. Participants took part in, and simultaneously helped refine, an experimental approach to capacity building that in future could be replicated around the world to the benefit of policymakers, technical experts, development practitioners, and more. This training activity was organized as a part of the World Bank’s work on “Data and Decision‐Making Tools for Green Growth,” an Affiliated Program of the Green Growth Knowledge Platform.
