The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) is a pioneering and leading African based international policy research organization working to harness applications of science, technology and innovation policy for sustainable development in Africa. The third Eco-Cities of the Mediterranean Forum 2014 is an initiative of the Ministry of Environment of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to bring together private and public sector representatives, as well as NGOs and intergovernmental organizations, to raise awareness, share experience and information on best practices and identify opportunities for investment and technology transfer in the green, environmental sector. The forum will take place at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar, Dead Sea Jordan, October 2014. It will focuse on the themes of water and waste management.

The side event, 'Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Pathway to a Green Economy' is being held at the 3rd SIDS International Conference by UNEP, in partnership with ESCAP, UNFCCC, PIDF and SPREP.

The event will focus on the unique case of SIDS transitioning to an inclusive Green Economy, highlighting specific initiatives and experiences of SIDS and formulating concrete recommendations for action.
