UNEP commits to support Pan-European countries with the implementation of circular economy of plastics in the tourism sector.
One Planet network Sustainable Tourism Programme will provide support to Pan-European tourism policy makers, companies, and other relevant stakeholders with regards to the implementation of circular economy of plastics in the tourism sector. More specifically, the Programme will provide support through its Global Tourism Plastics Initiative with:
- capacity building activities targeting policy makers and tourism businesses
- establishment of coordination mechanisms on destination level
- establishment of measurement and monitoring frameworks.
It is relevant to SDGs 12 and 14.
The commitment is part of the Nicosia call 2022.
